2013 Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate Ally Hudson comes from an impressive family legacy of Royals and continues to give back to the HSE community through her teaching and coaching.
Keeping It in the Royal Family
Hamilton Southeastern High School class of 2013 alum Ally (Stein) Hudson not only graduated from our school district, but chose to come back to Fishers after graduating from Purdue University to teach 2nd grade at Southeastern Elementary.
Ally comes from a long line of education, service and work in HSE Schools. She is "one of three Stein kids" who graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School. Her brothers, Matt and Robbie, were involved in hockey, baseball and lacrosse. Her father, Doug, coached HSE hockey during her brother's tenure with the program, and her mother, Ellynn, was a guidance counselor at Lantern Road Elementary for 27 years! Ally says, "We are all very proud to live in Fishers and be graduates of HSE High School!"
Not only does Ally come from "Royalty"...she married a Royal too. She recently became Mrs. Hudson when she married Garrett Hudson, who coaches both football and track at HSE High School. She says that they are both "big fans of the Royal Family".
"Cheers" to Achievements
When Ally steps out of her teacher shoes, she is kept very busy in the cheerleading world. Not only was she a cheerleader at HSE, but she also cheered at the collegiate level all four years during her time at Purdue. She is currently in her 6th season as head coach of the high school football/competition cheer team at her alma mater. Ally says she loves all things related to cheer...and not only the HSE cheer program, but the local Deveau's Dragons Elite program as well. She also has worked for Universal Cheerleading Association as a head instructor for ten years.
When asked about her greatest personal and professional achievements, Ally once again shows the pride she has in HSE Schools. She states, "My greatest accomplishment thus far professionally is that I teach at Southeastern Elementary and have been asked to lead some professional development sessions for our school. I feel very loved and valued here at SES!"
On a more personal level Ally is most proud of her accomplishments as a cheerleading coach. Her teams have placed in the top five at the IASP Cheerleading State Championships for the last five years since she has been the head coach. They won in 2019 and 2022, and it was the school's 11th win, making the team the "winningest cheer program in the state of Indiana". In 2022 she led her coaching staff to be recognized as a top three finalist for coaching staff of the year.

Memories Made
When Ally reflects on her time at HSE High School she lists several people who had a positive impact on her time there: Mr. Self, Coach Johnson, Coach Alano, Mr. Follis, Mr. Gastineau, Mrs. Garrett, Mr. Davis, Ms. Hill, Mrs. Jacobs and "many many many more!"
She recalls the clubs and sports she participated in...competitive cheerleading, track & field, Royal Sensations Choir, HSE Student Council, National Honor Society, Student Athlete Council and the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee.
In fact two of her favorite memories from high school involved her sports teams at HSE. "During my time as a high school athlete we won 4 IASP cheerleading state titles in a row! I also am on the Wall of Fame for cheerleading due to making the All State team in 2012." She also fondly remembers placing 2nd in the state in the 4x4 for track at the 2013 IHSAA Track in Field State Championship. "We were in the second heat, not the fastest heat, and then we ended up placing within the fastest heat!"
With the 2023 Mudsock football game coming up on September 8th, we asked Ally what she remembers most about the always fun Royals and Tigers rivalry. "The rivalry between HSE and Fishers has always been so strong. The competitive edge is what makes this game one of the greatest every season. Our cheer teams and football teams all come from the same Mudsock youth league and all-star cheerleading teams. It is fun to be surrounded by SO many people in fishers during this game. It shows the passion, love and culture that both schools have."
If you'd love to see the Mudsock game from some of the best seats in the house, you can purchase tickets to our annual HSEF Mudsock VIP event HERE! Tickets are $75 each, but if you sign up as an alumni you receive a $5 discount! You will enjoy local food and fellowship in an exclusive 18 and over environment in the end zone at Fishers High School.
A Strong Foundation
Many alumni agree that their time in HSE Schools gives them a solid foundation for their future. As for Ally, she says "My time at HSE prepared me beyond what I can believe. I was prepared academically and socially. I was taught time management and communication skills."
She further asserts that HSE taught her how to be confident in herself and how to be a great leader in the community. "All my teachers and the administration saw my strengths and allowed me to continue to grow as a leader." No better way to pull our HSE alumni back to our community to live and to serve.
Advice from an Alumnus
Ally's advice to current high school students in HSE is to use all the resources that the district has to offer. She believes that there are a lot of teachers and administrators who will give students the resources they need to be successful both during and after high school.
She also encourages students to stay connected after high school by remembering that there are a lot of alumni who are still involved in HSE Schools in some way and that making sure we have a strong connection can better everyone in some way. "We have strong connections across different athletic and professional avenues that we can use the Royal Family to continue the success in all fields."
